This official document of the 2005 MAVERICKS SURF CONTEST offers some high octane action amid the towering California waves in Half Moon Bay. With a sizeable cash prize up for grabs, these wave riders have to be fearless to be crowned champion, and some behind-the-scenes footage helps shed some light on the personalities of the men who put their lives on the line. In the tradition of the contest, all the competitors were only informed of their invitation to participate just 24 hours before the event took place, and when they arrived, they were greeted with some of the biggest waves in the world.
