AP Sports Basketball – Vol. 5: Hakeem Olajuwon (DVD)

Hosted by television and sports personality Pat O`Brien, the AP SPORTS BASKETBALL series takes an in-depth look at the stars of the NBA. With an engaging soundtrack, 3-D digital graphics, thrilling NBA photographs, and interviews with the players and their peers, each biography provides a portrait of its subject, as both an individual and as a player. Volume Five addresses the career of Nigerian-born former Houston rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon. After playing in college for the University of Houston, Olajuwon was one of the top NBA prospects; he took the rockets to the finals in 1986 almost immediately after being signed. He became known with Ralph Sampson as the original, formidable twin towers, and was named in the all-NBA first team six times. Among many other honors and stunning stats, Hakeem was dubbed one of the 50 greatest players of all time in 1996. A devout Muslim, he was also known as one of the best minds in sports, speaking multiple languages, and consistently doing charitable works. This documentary explores the mental and physical conditioning and positive approach that took him all the way to the top.
